- Brand: Cohiba
- Length: 4.5 inches
- Ring Gauge: 26
- Overall Score: ★★★
Appearance
The cigars have a nice brown color that is consistent throughout. The wrapper is not oily and has tiny veins. The band looks a bit oversized. Appearance rating: ★★★★
Construction
One issue with the cigar is a very tight draw, and there was no combustion around the second third, requiring it to be relit a couple of times. Construction rating: ★★★
Flavour
- One third: The cold draw is very smooth, with a flavor mix of bread and cedar. It starts very smooth, then the cedar becomes like dry wood, and the retrohale is peppery. After half an inch, it tastes like baked dough.
- Two thirds: The smoothness turns towards black pepper, and there is creaminess on the retrohale. It continues to have an aroma mixed with toast.
- Three thirds: Opposite from the beginning, it is significantly dictated by white pepper. Other flavors at the end are black coffee, campfire, perfume, and earth. Flavour rating: ★★★1/2
Value
The price of £17 - 18 in the UK makes it probably the most expensive short panatela in the world for a 15 - 20 min smoke with a few issues. Value rating: ★★
Panatela is part of the first 3 cigars (together with lancero and corona especiales) released as Cohiba and all 3 from Linea Clasica.
