Appearance

The cigar has an iconic COHIBA band with raised gold lettering. It has a perfectly applied triple cap and a medium brown color. There are thick veins and a water spot near the foot. The pre - light aroma is woodsy, earthy, with hints of leather and cedar.

Construction

A straight cut was used. It had a perfect burn during the 55 - 60 minutes smoking time, no touch - ups were needed. The draw was perfect, and the smoke remained cool. The ash was firm and grey/tanned white, holding until almost the halfway mark.

Flavor

• First third: Greets with a peppery blast, then offers cedar, leather, and an earthy finish. Pepper hints gradually subside, and salty and cocoa notes emerge.
• Second third: Picks up sweeter notes like dried fruit, toasted nuts, black cherry, and slight citrus. Offers a balance of salt and sweetness.
• Final third: Shines with rich, oily, honey - like smoke. Black cherry, citrus, and cocoa blend with cedar and leather notes.

Value

In Cuba, a box of 25 costs about $265. Outside Cuba, it's more expensive. Based on the Cuban price, the value is good for the quality.
