Product Introduction

The H. Upmann Majestic is a hand-rolled Cuban cigar introduced in 1844. It has a light to medium strength and is priced around €4.50 / $5.40 each. With a 5 1/2-inch length and 40-ring gauge, it's a long cigar from a famous Cuban global brand and usually the lowest - priced hand - rolled long Cuban stick in its thickness range.

Taste Experience

  • First Third: After punching, it had Upmann wood, creaminess, and a bit of sweetness. But the draw was very tight. When smoke was coaxed out, there were mild cedar, cream, bitter fruit rind, and a bit of spice.
  • Middle Third: Showed some flavour richness with hints of coffee, caramel, more cedar, citrus, and bitter fruit rind. However, flavour would come and go.
  • Final Third: Had more spice notes and roasted nut sensations. Flavour disappeared again near the nub.

Burn and Ash

The burn was a bit uneven but not too bad, slowed by the tight draw. The ash was zebra - like, black, white, and grey, holding well and leaving a nice point after drop - off.

Recommendation

Due to recurring draw issues, alternatives like the Trinidad Reyes, Cohiba Siglo I, Quintero Londres or Nacionales, and Por Larrañaga Panetela are suggested. For a better introduction to H. Upmann with fewer draw problems, consider the Petit Corona Mareva, Corona Major, or Upmann Half Corona.
