Product Introduction

The Fonseca Delicias is a pre - 1960 vitola, and has been a premium handmade cigar since 2002. Before that, it was a machine - made petit corona. This 2014 version comes in characteristic white wax paper with the ring on the outside. The wrapper has more veins and is a bit duller in color compared to the 2019 version, but the construction feels better. The aroma is mild, with an old, dry wood smell.

Taste Profile

  • One third: The cold draw has a nice dose of pepper. After lighting, there's a hint of coffee, but the main flavor is honey, along with a hint of wood and white pepper. The sweetness is dominant with wood, spices, and leather in the background. There's more pepper than in the younger version.
  • Two thirds: There's a wood flavor with sweetness, a bit dry and dusty, and a hint of pepper. It has less balance but more character. The sweetness changes from honey to sugar syrup. Retrohale reveals green herbs, a hint of vanilla, and some citrus. Wood and leather return, with sweetness as the base.
  • Three thirds: Near the end, there's leather, pepper, and marzipan sweetness.

Other Characteristics

The draw is fine, the smoke is good, the ash is light - colored and firm, and the burn is great. It's a medium - bodied and medium - flavored cigar, slightly stronger than the 2019 version. The smoke time is one hour and thirty minutes. It costs €4.10, and was cut with a Palio cutter and lit with a single - flame jet lighter indoors with a ventilator.
