Product Details

The H. Upmann Legacy 2008, released by Altadis, comes in 3 vitolas. The Toro we're reviewing is 6” x 52 and costs $6.85. The wrapper is Ecuadorian Sumatra, the binder is Nicaraguan, and the filler includes Dominican and Nicaraguan tobacco.

Pre - light and Cutting

The pre - light aroma was earthy with a touch of grassiness. When toasting the foot, the aroma amplified without overpowering. The cap can be cut perfectly with either a plug or a guillotine cutter, showing no cracking or peeling.

Taste Profile

  • One third: Immediately after lighting, a firm salt and pepper ash formed. The oils on the wrapper gave a pleasant taste on the lips and a nice sensation on the fingertips.
  • Two thirds: As it burned to about the halfway point, the prominent notes were of wood and hay. The flavor was medium - bodied throughout.
  • Three thirds: The flavor remained consistent until the end.

Construction

It had immaculate construction with a perfectly even burn, firm ash, perfect draw, and a wrapper that didn't split or flake. It's suitable for both Upmann fans and those who prefer flavored but not overly strong cigars, appealing to both aficionados and novices.
