General Information

The H. Upmann Sir Winston Gran Reserva Cosecha 2011 is a hand - made cigar from Cuba. It comes in the Churchill/Julieta No. 2 format. Habanos S.A. will release 5,000 numbered boxes of 15 cigars. All leaves are from the 2011 crop and have been aged for 5 years before rolling.

Appearance

The wrapper leaf is soft, oily, and claro. The double black and gold band Gran Reserva highlights the cigar. It has a rating of 5/5 for appearance.

Construction

Despite being made by top rollers, the construction was rated 2/5. There were gaps at the foot, and the cigar seemed under - filled.

Flavor

  • One third: The first few puffs were unbalanced and bitter, full of ammonia. The draw was extremely soft, and it took 40 minutes to smoke a Julieta No. 2.
  • Two thirds: The strength increased, with a strong burnt after - taste. There were notes of fresh grass and earthiness, and hints of exotic spiciness like cinnamon and nutmeg, but it was hard to enjoy.
  • Three thirds: It improved slightly with more resistance and better balance between flavors and acidity.

Value

It was rated 2/5. Considering other pre - releases, the reviewer was disappointed with its quality.
