General Information

The Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure de Luxe Cigar (LCDH) is an exclusive release for La Casa del Habanos stores. It was launched in 2012 by Habanos S.A. and comes in a wooden slide box of 10. It's a Cuban puro with a Petit Robusto (Magicos) format and size of 115 x 21 mm (4 1/2 x 50), priced at around 10 EUR.

Appearance

It has a medium - brown wrapper with a light oily sheen. The wrapper is smooth with only a few ultra - fine veins. The wide band covers about a third of the cigar's length and is eye - catching.

Construction

The draw is ideal from the start, and the burn is completely even. The dark ash holds well, and the white, aromatic smoke enhances the experience. No touch - ups are needed.

Flavor

  • One third: It offers plenty of cedar, a hint of sweetness, and a splash of citrus.
  • Two thirds: Black pepper becomes prominent, along with notes of coffee and nuts. A creamy undercurrent emerges, and peppery notes intensify, leaving a spicy aftertaste.
  • Three thirds: A burst of caramel appears, making the blend sweeter. The sweetness lasts until the end, and it can be smoked to the nub without harshness.

This cigar is perfect in all aspects. Fans of black pepper will particularly enjoy it. It's worth picking up if you find it in an LCDH shop, some of which operate online like LCDH Knokke.
