, By: John Smith
  • Brand: Montecristo Open Regata
  • Length: 135mm (5.3 inches)
  • Ring Gauge: 46
  • Origin: Cuba
  • Price: $8 each

Appearance and Aroma

The Montecristo Open Regata has a Forum vitola, a smaller torpedo shape. It has a nice shiny wrapper and a double band. The smell is a typical Cuban sweet and sour aroma.

Taste Profile

  • Pre - draw: A spicy pre - draw was detected.
  • First pulls: An aggressive spicy taste took over the palate. The smoke was dry and not abundant.
  • After initial spice: Plain woody flavors emerged.

Overall Experience

The author initially was interested in the Regata due to its format. After trying it, despite the cigar being well - constructed, the smoking experience was disappointing. The author tried two cigars and had a similar experience each time, concluding that the Montecristo Open blend maintained its title of the "disappointment of the year".
