General Information
The Partagas Coronas Gordas Añejados is a Swiss Cuban cigar, originating from Cuba. It was released in 2015. It's the 4th in the new Añejados line. Cigars in the Añejados program are aged for five to eight years in their original packaging, then checked and re - banded. It comes in a cardboard dress box.
Appearance
It has a natural (Colorado Claro) and very uniform brown color with speckles of crystalline plume. The additional “Añejados” band enhances the presentation. The ash is black and white.
Construction
It feels well - constructed but a bit loose or underfilled. The draw is snug and perfect, with an excellent volume of smoke. The burn is sharp and a little uneven, lasting over two hours (usually closer to 1 hour, forty - five minutes) without touch - ups.
Flavor
- One third: Opens medium strength, with flavors of earth, salt, leather, light black pepper, oak char, and a hint of milk chocolate. It's smooth and pleasant with no bite on the retrohale.
- Two thirds: About halfway, some softer flavors are replaced by spice and astringency.
- Three thirds: Unfortunately, there's not much of a finish.
The price of an early box was $450, and it can be as low as $340. There's a question about whether they are specially rolled or re - banded. In the author's opinion, they may have been rolled in 2007 but banded and packaged this year. Overall, it scores well, but the Añejados price point seems high.
