General Information
The Romeo y Julieta Capuletos Limited Edition 2016 is from Cuba. It's a hand - made Sobresalietes format cigar released in 2016, with a medium brand strength and priced at £30.
Appearance
It's the first limited - edition and the only sobrasaliente size in the brand. It has a dark, veiny wrapper with two bands. One is the classic RyJ red and yellow band, and the other is black and gold for the limited production. The wrapper has little oil but feels soft and velvety.
Construction
Well - rolled, fitting the “Sobrasaliente” name. Cold draw shows good construction with notes of lather and cedar. When lit, it burns evenly, with light - gray, solid and compact ash, and medium smoke.
Flavor
- One third: Medium strength, good flavor intensity, creamy texture. Flavors include cedar, leather, sweet spices, cocoa, and a hint of bitter grapefruit skin.
- Two thirds: Smoke gets a bit warmer, body increases slightly to medium - full. Flavor profile remains similar with some bitterness.
- Three thirds: Most intense. Aromas of cocoa, nuts, wood, spice and toastiness. Harsh and pungent flavors are left behind.
The smoking time is about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Value
Due to high UK market taxation, it's expensive. It could be a good investment for aging.
This cigar has good construction and tobacco quality but is too “green” to smoke now. It's recommended for experienced smokers, preferably after a meal with a sweet spirit. It will improve with age.
