Romeo y Julieta Prince of Wales Cigar Review

, By: John Smith
  • Brand Name: Romeo y Julieta Prince of Wales
  • Length: 7.0 inches
  • Ring Gauge: 47
  • Overall Score: 3/5

General Information

Made in Cuba, this cigar uses a Cuban wrapper, binder, and filler. It's a Churchill format, hand - made, released in the early 1970s and discontinued in 2002. The box code is 1998, and the price is not available.

Appearance

The wrapper is Colorado claro. There are large veins around it and a few cracks around the band. It received a 2.5/5 rating.

Construction

The triple cap looks good and the foot is tight. It has a clean cut and a perfect draw, with a 3/5 rating.

Flavor

  • One third: It starts with a light body and tobacco flavor. Then citrus and grapefruit notes appear, and a hint of ginger at the end.
  • Two thirds: The body becomes stronger, with less citrus and blander flavors. A light tangy, almost sour taste, like sour bread, shows up.
  • Three thirds: The base flavors are nice, but lack the definition of the first third.

Value

With a 2.5/5 rating, the reviewer wouldn't buy a box. It would need to be cheap to be worth it.

Overall, the Prince of Wales didn't meet the reviewer's expectations and isn't suited to their palate.
