Product Introduction
San Luis Rey Serie A Cuban Cigars are from SwissCubanCigars. The author found a batch of Saint Luis Rey Serie A dating from before 2000 in La Casa del Habano Dubai and picked up a few.
Taste Experience
- One third: The draw was very tight at first. There was just a hint of spice, and the difficult draw left the author unimpressed.
- Two thirds: The draw opened up a bit. A mix of woody flavors, mostly oak and maple, could be distinguished. The smoke was very dry, and the author needed to moisten the throat with Australian Shiraz. The ash was unstable and fell off at about one inch.
- Three thirds: The finish was very leathery. Since the author is not fond of leather flavors, the cigar was left in the middle of the last third.
The author is unsure if the poor performance was due to bad storage or quality issues with the particular box. Saint Luis Rey Serie A has received praise in European press, and the author plans to buy less - aged ones for a proper review.
