General Information

The Petit Robaina is a hand - made Cuban cigar released in 2009 as a special Canadian Regional Edition. It's from the Vegas Robaina line. It was bought at a duty - free in Canada for $9.20 per cigar in 2010, and now the price ranges from $14 to $27 per cigar.

Appearance

The cigar is double - banded, with the classic Vegas Robaina label and a secondary Canadian Regional Edition band. It's short and stout, with an oily wrapper showing minor veins and no visible seams. It has a rating of 5/5 for appearance.

Construction

Tightly packed, most samples had tight draws. It's a slow - burning cigar, and often shows “coning”. Many samples required re - lights, resulting in less smoke output. Rating: 3/5.

Flavor

  • One third: Starts with a sweet taste, with hints of coffee, dried fruits and cedar undertones. No pepper, but a little spice when exhaling through the nose.
  • Two thirds: Flavors become stronger, with more cocoa, coffee and Cuban saltiness.
  • Three thirds: Hints of citrus, and remains sweet. Smoke can have a caramel - like texture, and smoke volume increases near the second band.

Rating: 4/5.

Value

Price has increased. Not worth over $15 for most, but good for collectors or as a short morning smoke. Rating: 3/5.
