Product Introduction

The Mataza Robusto Gordo is a hand - made cigar from Honduras. It has a Brazilian Mata Fina wrapper, Nicaraguan and Colombian filler, and a Honduran binder. The cigar comes in a Robusto Gordo vitola with a size of 5 x 54.

Appearance

It is a thick, dark chocolate brown stick with uniform color and smoothness. The tobacco seams are tight, with 1 - 2 moderately sized veins on its sides. There is minor toothiness on the wrapper surface. The wrapper smells of roasted coffee and leather, and the foot smells of black tea leaves.

Construction

Alec Bradley - made cigars are well - made and burn straight. This one has a wind - tunnelish draw with no resistance, producing large amounts of creamy - textured smoke. The burn line stays straight and only needs a little touch - up.

Flavor

  • One third: After lighting, it has a strong leather flavor supported by creamed coffee.
  • Two thirds: There is little flavor transition, remaining pretty uniform.
  • Three thirds: Each vitola has some bitter flavors, more so in the magnum. It's a full - bodied cigar with moderate nicotine content.

Value

Without knowing the price, one might not pay over $5. But at $3.40 per cigar when bought by the box, it's a decent value.

The cigar is suitable for golf courses, yard work, or gifting to friends who want something beyond Altadis and General Cigar flavors. It may be one - dimensional in flavor, but it delivers well on the few flavors it has.
