General Information

Originating from Cuba, it's a hand - made Dobles (Robusto Extra) format cigar. In 2006, 1,200 cabinets of 50 were produced for the German Habanos distributor, Fifth Avenue Products Trading. The original price was 700 € / 50, about $17/cigar in 2006.

Appearance

It has a natural (Colorado Claro) color with a flat sheen and numerous prominent veins. The ash is dark and grainy.

Construction

It has a slightly firm draw, is well - packed and consistent. It produces a large volume of smoke. The burn was slightly uneven due to the veins but didn't need touch - up. It can stay lit longer than a typical Cuban cigar and lasts about two hours.

Flavor

  • One third: It opens mild, with leather as the dominant flavor, along with woody notes like chewing on a pencil, a bit salty, and has a long - lasting black pepper finish.
  • Two thirds: The flavors meld well, and the black pepper gives way to leather dominance.
  • Three thirds: There are flavors of leather, wood, salt, and black pepper, with no floral, fruit or nut flavors.

Initially, many enthusiasts were disappointed with its mild flavor considering the high price. But after aging, it has improved. The choice of pairing beverage is crucial, such as coffee, water, or Bruichladdich scotch.
