General Information

The Cohiba Maduro 5 Secretos cigar is from Cuba, hand - made, in the Petit Corona format with a size of 110 x 15.87 mm. It has a medium - full strength and a smoking time of about 20 mins. The price is around 9€ per piece.

Appearance

The first impression is that it is compact, neat and accurate. The wrapper is very smooth but not fully homogeneous.

Construction

Similar to other Cohibas in this series, it is excellent. The draw is perfect, but it needed to be relit twice in the last third.

Flavor

  • One third: The early smoke has intense cedar and black pepper characters. The amount of smoke varies, but the draw is excellent.
  • Two thirds: There is a rich aromatic presence with scents of wood, pepper, mushrooms and autumn leaves. The smoke gets a bit dry at the end of this stage.
  • Three thirds: It is fulfilling and satisfying, with the same flavors dominating.

Value

Cheaper than its “big brothers”, it is a good value and is among the leading ones in its category.

Conclusion

Overall, it is a very good cigar. It may get better with ageing, which could solve the minor burn issue.
