Origin and Release

In 2003, Habanos SA released a special edition box of Cohiba cigars, the Cohiba Selección Reserva. It had 30 cigars in various sizes, including six robustos. The author's sample was given by a friend who owns a bar in Denmark.

Appearance

The wrapper is like light - brown leather with a normal Cohiba band and a second black - and - gold band for the Reserva designation. The wrapper color is a latte brown with a matte look.

Smoking Experience

  • Start: The draw is perfect. Using the “Three Match Technique”, the cigar starts smooth and buttery, with creamy vanilla notes, a hint of citrus, and a floral aroma.
  • Middle: Flavors become woody, leathery, and spicy, with salt and pepper on the lips. There is a classic Cuban earthiness and twang, and the aroma remains floral.
  • End: Flavors include coffee, nuts, vanilla, honey, fruit, leather. It shifts from sweet to spicy and back to sweet, with a mild nicotine punch. The taste is always smooth and creamy on the palate.
