Product Introduction

Up until the early 1980s, H. Upmann produced the 5⅜x42 Noellas as regular production in glass jars instead of wooden boxes. In 2009, Habanos released a limited edition of 5000 glass jars worldwide. The cigars were considered a 2009 release but were available in late 2010. Another batch was released in 2013, and it's unclear if it was a re - release. The reviewed cigar is from the 2009 release and aged in a jar in a humidor for a decade.

Appearance and Aroma

The cigar has a Colorado - colored, oily, and smooth wrapper. The Upmann and La Casa del Habano rings don't match. The triple cap looks good. It's spongy with some softer spots. The aroma is mild, with scents of hay and animals.

Taste Profile

  • First Third: Cold draw has a salty leathery flavor. Initial flavors are coffee, soil, leather, and salt, then evolving to more leather, wood, and a hint of chocolate. Earthiness and salt remain, and the mouthfeel becomes creamy.
  • Second Third: Flavors change to include a hint of pepper, cumin, and a nutty flavor. Still slightly salty and leathery, with wood and grass.
  • Last Third: Features nuttiness, spice, pepper, and leather. Final puffs bring wood, lots of pepper, leather, and some sweetness.

Smoking Experience

The draw is great. The ash is dark and not very firm. The smoke is thick and voluminous. The cigar needed to be relit a few times, but the burn is straight. It's a medium - bodied, medium - flavored cigar with a smoke time of one hour and fifty minutes.
