Product Introduction

Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo du Député is part of the Le Hoyo cigar series dating back to the 1940s. These Cuban puros are made from tobacco leaves grown in Vuelta Abajo. The series was initially for a richer smoking experience. The cigar is hand - made and comes in a single packaging, priced around $5 - 7 each.

Appearance

The cigar has a medium - brown, smooth wrapper with a few fine veins and an oily sheen. It shows a crack and has soft spots, which raises construction concerns.

Construction

The draw is open but not too loose. The burn is even but a bit quick. The ash hangs well but isn't very attractive. It produces a moderate amount of cedar - scented aromatic smoke.

Flavor

  • Overall, the flavors are woody with an undercurrent of cream.
  • During the smoke, there are hints of fruit, nuts, a sweet and slightly roasted note (maybe honey or caramel), and leather.
  • Aged cigars (about 3 years) are more complex. Fresh ones are less complex and may have aggressive flavors like ammonia.

Value

At around $5 - 7 per stick, it's an affordable Cuban cigar, offering good value for an enjoyable smoke.
