Overview

The Montecristo Especial No. 2 is a Cuban hand - made cigar with a length of 152 mm and a 38 - ring gauge. It's the least expensive among four offerings of this vitola from Cuban and Davidoff. The price is about € 12,90.

Taste and Aroma

  • Pre - draw: Mild aroma, with a taste of old forest and a bit of spice on inhale.
  • One third: After lighting, walnut and burning wood fire taste, a bit harsh at first, then smoother and nuttier.
  • Two thirds: Softly flavoured with roasted - chestnut tastes, then flavour fades.
  • Three thirds: Pleasant but unremarkable, with nuttiness, slight harshness, and some missing flavour moments.

Appearance and Burn

The cigar is not very smooth in appearance, with a bit of colour contrast on the pigtail cap. The ash crumbled initially but then held well up to 3cm, though it turned twisty. The burn was uneven and needed touch - ups.

The Montecristo Especial No. 2, despite its rough edges and flavour fade, offers a long Cuban smoking experience at an affordable price.
