General Information

The Montecristo No. 4 is a Mareva vitola. The numbered series launched the Montecristo brand in 1935. The Reserva was released in 2007 in limited quantities (only 5,000 boxes). It's hand - made and costs about $30 each and is very hard to find.

Appearance

The cigar has a milk - chocolate wrapper and a double band indicating a special release. It has a light feel in hand and exhales a sour Cubanesque aroma.

Construction

The construction is impeccable, with a straight burn line and a perfect draw.

Flavor

  • First part: After a spicy pre - draw, the first pulls are deep, with a lot of spice, earth, and a salty twang. After 1/2", it develops coffee and cocoa notes.
  • Second third: Leather flavor appears, while the main flavors of spice, coffee, and cocoa remain but in different proportions.
  • Final part: The finish is soothing with no harshness.

Value

It's likely to be a collector item. At $30 each, it's a high price, but worth trying at least once.
