Introduction

The Partagas Serie E No. 2 was officially released at the XIII Habanos Festival in Cuba in February 2011. It comes in two presentations: Semi boite nature (SBN) with 25 units and Semi boite nature (SBN) with 5 units. Originating from Cuba, it's a hand - made Robusto Extra / Duke, sized 140 x 22 mm (5.5 x 54), and priced at about $15 each.

Appearance

It has a large size due to the wide ring gauge but doesn't feel overly heavy. The wrapper is a very light brown with noticeable seams. It has little sheen and seems a bit dry at first, but smokes well.

Construction

Aside from minor burn - line touch - ups, the construction is flawless. The draw is perfect from start to finish.

Flavor

  • One third: Initial notes include wood, leather, tobacco, earth, and a “barnyard” motif. There's a hint of sweetness and little spice.
  • Two thirds: Earth notes move to the forefront. A creamy texture and nuttiness emerge. Sweetness gets stronger but stays in the background.
  • Three thirds: Sweetness turns into an incredible honey flavor. Spice emerges to balance it. Wood, hay, and a hint of coffee or chocolate are detected. Creaminess tones down but remains key.

Value

Despite the high price, it offers great value as it meets and exceeds expectations.
