Product Introduction
The Quai d'Orsay brand was created in 1973 by Cubatobaco for the French distributor Keita. The 2011 regional edition series added two new vitolas, and the Quai d’Orsay Superior is one of them, released for the Pacific Cigar and the Asia Pacific region.
Appearance
The Superior has some appearance flaws. The wrapper is rough, with many veins and a few green spots. The bunch is inconsistent, with looser spots at both ends. The triple cap is rounded and sloppy, but there are floral aromas at the foot. The pre - light draw is loose.
Taste
- One third: It starts with flavors of wood, coffee, and hay, with a sweet and long finish. Then it mellows. In this stage, hay and toffee are dominant, with some herbs in the background and a salty finish. The burn is uneven.
- Two thirds: It remains rich and well - balanced, with hay, toffee, and some wood. The smoke has a creamy texture. The burn issues persist and it needs touch - ups. The body is medium, and the finish is long, sweet with a slight ammonia hint.
- Three thirds: The sweet flavors are replaced by strong wood and earth flavors. The smoke texture is less smooth. The burn is still uneven, and touch - ups are more frequent. It tastes a bit bitter but not unpleasant.
Despite its construction flaws, the Superior is a flavorsome robusto that keeps smokers interested from start to finish.
