Trinidad Ingenios Cigar (2007) Limited Edition Review

, By: John Smith
  • Brand: Trinidad Ingenios
  • Length: 6 1/2" (165mm)
  • Ring Gauge: 42
  • Score: 3.5/5 (Overall)

General Information

The Trinidad Ingenios is a 2007 limited - edition cigar, with a Lonsdale format, hand - made in Cuba. It comes in a box of 12 and costs around $220 per box, about $18 per single.

Appearance

The cigar has a rustic look. Its wrapper is rough with discoloration spots and lacks oil, slightly sticking to the lips. It exhales a pleasant tobacco aroma and has a strong pre - draw with woody flavors.

Construction

The construction is good. It burned well with a few corrections, and the draw was satisfactory.

Flavor

  • First third: Powerful and woody from the start. The smoke is tannic and moderately dry, needing a drink. At the end, a black pepper flavor appears.
  • Second third: Past the half - mark, flavors of ginger, cinnamon, and coriander emerge.

Value

It may be overpriced at $18 per single, even for a limited - release lonsdale. It's advisable to try a single before buying a box.

Overall, despite its unappealing looks, it has an unusual flavor profile. Compared to the regular Trinidad line, this limited edition may be less interesting. For price/quality and flavor, Fundadores or Reyes are better choices.
