Product Background

Handmade in Esteli, Nicaragua, the Dias de Gloria Robusto is a Nicaraguan puro. It's a tribute to the glory days of Cuban tobacco. A.J. Fernandez created a blend using aged tobacco from his four oldest farms in Esteli, aiming to resemble the old Cuban style.

Appearance

The cigar has red, yellow, and golden bands with a biblical picture, a secondary golden and red band with the A.J. Fernandez name, and a piece of cedar covering most of it. Under the cedar is an oily, reddish - brown wrapper, smooth and velvet - like. It feels evenly packed, and the aroma is strong, with notes of hay and cedar.

Taste Profile

  • First third: Cold draw has cedar and dry wood. Once lit, it gives leather, wood, soil, coffee, red pepper, and a bit of refined - sugar sweetness. Flavors are a bit harsh, and retrohaling is tough as wood gets stronger and it irritates the throat.
  • Second third: Starts with caramel sweetness, along with oak, soil, leather, and pepper. A citrus acidity helps reduce roughness, and there's a mushroom flavor with red pepper. The mean bite persists.
  • Third third: Red pepper overpowers oak and soil flavors, lacking balance.

Construction

The draw is good, the smoke is plentiful, white, and thick. The ash is white and dense, and the burn is straight. It's a strong, full - bodied, and full - flavored cigar with a two - hour smoke time.
