Background

Fuente has made cigars for over a century. Meerapfel & Sohne from Belgium, the long - time Arturo Fuente distributor, stores tobacco in climate - controlled warehouses. Recently, three pallets of 20 - year - old cigars including Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva were found. The Dutch distributor bought them and sells at regular prices.

Product Details

Made in the Dominican Republic by Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia. Size is 6×44, vitola is Lonsdale. Wrapper is Ecuador Sun Grown, binder and filler are from the Dominican Republic. Price in The Netherlands is € 9.

Appearance and Aroma

The wrapper is still oily after 20 years. It's a bit yellowish - brown, and the cellophane is golden. The ring is simple and Cubanesque. The aroma is mild, with hints of manure and hay.

Taste Profile

  • One third: Cold draw has pepper and peppermint. After lighting, it's strong but smooth leather with earthy undertone and hay, then changes to green herbs, caramel and mustiness. Later, cream, cinnamon, creamy cedar, salt, honey, and hazelnuts appear.
  • Two thirds: Caramelized leather with pepper turns into toasted leathery cream.
  • Three thirds: Nuts return with pepper, and pepper strength increases.

Smoking Experience

The ash is white but breaks easily. The smoke is brownish - white. The draw and burn are flawless. The strength and flavor are medium.

Comes in a box of 25. Wrapper is natural, not flavored. Cutter is Xikar X2, lighter is single flame. Smoke time is 1 hour fifty minutes indoors with a ventilator.
