  • Ring Gauge: 50
  • Score: 8

General Information

The Arturo Fuente Don Carlos Presidente is from the Dominican Republic. It has a Toro format, with a size of 6.0 inches x 50 ring gauge. The wrapper is from Cameroon, the filler and binder are Dominican, and it is hand - made. Each cigar costs $11.

Appearance and Smoking Experience

The wrapper of this cigar is veiny and splotchy brown, which is unusual for Don Carlos cigars that usually have few veins and a smooth, uniform color. However, this rustic look didn't affect the smoke. The smoke was mellow and smooth. The flavors were creamy, refined, and slightly sweet, typical of a good Cameroon wrapper. Compared to the smaller No. 4, it was a bit one - dimensional, but still very enjoyable. The construction was perfect, with a razor - sharp burn and thick, creamy smoke.

Cutting Technique

A double V - cut, also called the “Butterfly Cut”, was used. First, make a small V - cut across the head, then turn the cigar and make a second V - cut perpendicular to the first, creating a shallow X. It makes a clean cut and a good draw, best suited for ring gauges 48 and above.
