Origin and Basics

The Cohiba Robusto is from Cuba, with a Robusto format. It has a size of 124 x 19.84 mm, a ring of 50, and weighs 11.66 g. It's hand - made and costs about $15 each.

Construction

Some sites report construction issues with Cohiba, like loosely rolled cigars or cracked wrappers. However, the three Cohiba Robustos sampled had no physical problems. The wrapper is a milky - chocolate color with small, minor veins. When squeezed, it's slightly spongy with no soft spots. The burn is decent, and the ash is a flaky salt - and - pepper color that doesn't hold for more than an inch at a time.

Flavor & Taste

  • Pre - light draw has subtle hints of hay/grass, and the foot has a subtle floral scent.
  • The first third has a bad flavor, like chewing on wet, bitter grass.
  • The second third gets better as the bitterness fades and coffee and dark - chocolate flavors emerge.
  • The last third shines with a pleasant spiciness.

The Cohiba Robusto is a decent medium - body cigar. The strength of Cohiba cigars is overstated.

Value

At $15 per cigar, it's not a great value. Buying a box of 25 is expensive. If it were more enjoyable from the start, it would be worth having for special occasions.
