Origin and Background
The La Gloria Cubana Britanicas Extra is a Cuban cigar. The UK market has a long - standing relationship with cigars, and its distributor, Hunters And Frankau, is known for protecting smokers' rights and designing great vitolas. The last UK regional edition was the 2016 Juan Lopez Selection Superba, and this La Gloria Cubana is theoretically a 2017 release expected in 2018. In 2013, they released the Bolivar Britanicas Extra, which became a collector's item.
Tasting
- One third: The pre - draw was tight. The first few puffs had little smoke at the start. It had a sweet flavour and leathery texture. The strength was medium to full and punchy at the beginning. The finish was very dry, and the flavours developed well.
- Two thirds: It softened, was smooth on the palate with no acidity. The dry feeling from the start almost disappeared. Leathery texture remained, and flavours like salty caramels developed.
- Three thirds: There was not much development. The tightness made flavours slow to open. However, the cigar burnt perfectly throughout.
The reviewer enjoyed the cigar but was frustrated by its tightness and is eager to try it again to see if there are changes.
Other Information: It is a pre - release, hand - made cigar. Price is not available.
