Construction

It is very tightly packed, which can lead to a tight draw. The burn was regular but not totally straight. Construction rating: 4/5.

Flavor

  • First third: The pre - draw is spicy. After lighting, it provides vegetal and cedarwood flavors with a good amount of nicotine. It is moderately strong at the beginning.
  • Second third: The spice tries to take over but fails and almost disappears. The smoke becomes round.
  • Last third: It has powerful woody and vegetal flavors. The strength is similar to Partagas Serie D No. 4. Flavor rating: 4.5/5.

Value

All good Cuban piramides are in a similar price range, making it hard to find a bargain. Value rating: 4/5.

It is often compared to Monte No. 2 and H. Upmann No. 2. Montecristo has more complex flavors but unstable construction. In comparison, the Partagas Serie P No. 2 holds its own.
