General Information
The Alec Bradley Tempus Magistri Natural has its origin in Honduras. It's a double corona, hand - made cigar. The wrapper, filler, and binder come from Honduras, with the filler also having Nicaraguan components. It was developed in 2001, released in 2008, and the Magistri line was introduced in 2009. It costs $175 for a box of 20, about $9 per stick.
Appearance
The color is a very dark brown, typical of a maduro cigar. It has one large and one medium - sized vein along its length. The cap is darker than the rest of the wrapper.
Construction
The cigar is soft and oily, with no soft spots. It has two bands, one large at the head and one smaller at the foot. The foot band is glued unevenly. It's single - capped, and the pre - light draw is good.
Flavor
- First part: Initial taste is of nuts. After it gets hotter, a slight pepper is felt. At around 1 inch, an espresso coffee flavor becomes evident. Retrohale has hints of mint and oregano.
- Middle part: At the 3.5 - inch mark, it becomes woody (mostly oak) and slightly bitter.
- End part: Predominately nutty towards the end.
Value
It has a reasonable price tag. Since it takes time to smoke, the cost/time to smoke ratio is good.
