Introduction

The Avo 85th Anniversary is an annual release to celebrate Avo Uvezian’s birthday. The 2011 release has received mostly positive reviews. It's not a Dominican puro. It has a sun - grown Dominican wrapper, filled with San Vicente and Piloto Dominican tobacco, and a Peruvian binder.

Appearance

The cigar has an interesting format. Its soft - brown wrapper has prominent veins and exhales a spicy smell with dry wood notes at the foot. It's hard to the touch and creaks slightly when pressed. It has a classic band and an 85th anniversary band.

Construction

It's easy to light and burns slowly. The burn line may wander a bit, needing occasional corrections. It produces a large amount of thick white smoke.

Flavor

  • First third: After a short spiciness, Avo cedar flavors appear, along with dried fruits, coffee, raisins, and gingerbread notes, all well - balanced.
  • Second third: The body is medium. There is little grassiness or hay flavor. The coffee and cocoa sweetness is prominent.
  • Last third: It remains creamy with a noticeable strength increase.

Value

With an MSRP of $17.50, considering its creaminess and rich flavor palette, the price - quality ratio is acceptable.

Origin: Dominican Republic, Format: Diadema, Hand - Made. The Avo 85th Anniversary 2011 should get better with 1 - 2 years of aging.
