The El Rey del Mundo Choix du Roi is a Regional Edition Cuban cigar for the Belgium and Luxembourg markets in 2016. El Rey Del Mundo was created in 1882. Cubacigar will release it in 6000 numbered boxes of 10 cigars, using the Montesco vitola.
Appearance and Construction
The cigar has a smooth light - coloured wrapper, soft but not very oily, with few visible veins. Its construction feels tight from head to foot. However, half - way through, a slight crack appeared on the wrapper, likely due to wrapper quality issues in Cuba.
Flavor
- First third: Develops intense creaminess, with excellent draw and rich aroma. Flavors are light and easy to enjoy, and the burn is constant.
- Second third: Gets a bit stronger, losing some creaminess and developing cedar, woody, and earthy notes.
- Last third: Ammonia appears due to the cigar's youth, but after cooling, the brand's typical profile of creaminess with fresh vanilla aromas returns. A slight sweetness shows up before the final notes of ammonia and medium strength.
Overall, the cigar is well - balanced. With a few years of ageing, it is expected to be even better.
