General Information
Originating from Cuba, in Corona Gorda format. It was discontinued in 2002. Hand - made, it cost about $6/cigar in 2000 and now around $20 - 25/cigar. Market values may rise to $700/box in the next few years.
Appearance
It has a natural (Colorado Claro) color with a fairly flat sheen and no prominent veins. The wrapper is thinner and more delicate. It's slightly box - pressed and the ash is mottled gray.
Construction
A bit tight due to its long - stored dress box. It has the correct amount of resistance, light - to - normal smoke volume, and an even burn. Towards the end, the fragile wrapper began to unravel.
Flavor
- One third: It has a nice pre - light nose. Initial tastes are tea, leather, earth, cedar and lead, well - balanced. Mild at first.
- Two thirds: Flavors blend well, tea and lead tastes diminish, similar to an aged H. Upmann Monarch or Lonsdale.
- Three thirds: Flavor builds a bit, becomes a bit harsh, nicotine strength is stronger than expected.
