Product Introduction

The Dominican H. Upmann brand is owned by Altadis, USA, a stakeholder in Habanos, S.A. The Cameroon wrapper conceals a Nicaraguan binder and a blend of long filler from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Peru. It has three bright red bands and a cedar sleeve.

Taste Experience

  • Wrapper: The Upmann wrapper has plenty of tiny veins, and it's not as toothy as many Cameroons.
  • Draw: The draw is good, but the large ring gauge is awkward.
  • Burn: The burn is excellent, straight, slow, and cool. The ash is a little flaky.
  • Flavor: The flavor is nondescript and light, a mild smoke. There's a hint of sweet spice from the Cameroon, but the large ring gauge and filler have muted it.

The H. Upmann Vintage Cameroon Toro was once a favorite for the reviewer, but now it seems too mild. It's not a bad cigar, but it no longer suits the reviewer's taste. It remains a nice memory from the past.

It's hand - made and priced at $6 each. The format is Toro, and the wrapper origin is the Dominican Republic.
