Origin and Production

Originating from Cuba, this cigar is a Gordito (Robusto Extra) size. In 2013, 5000 boxes of 10 were produced exclusively for the UK distributor, Hunters & Frankau. It's a regional edition of the discreet Cuban brand La Flor de Cano, which has a small number of regular production cigars and a minor market share.

Appearance

It has a Dark Colorado color, almost a Colorado Maduro, with a slightly oily sheen and minor veins. The ash is tight and white. Rated 9/10.

Construction

The draw is slightly firm. It's well - packed, consistent, with an average volume of smoke. The burn was even, nearly perfect. It's dense enough to last two hours but can be smoked in under an hour and a half. However, the bands are difficult to remove without tearing the wrapper. Rated 8/10.

Flavor

  • One third: It opens with a slightly burned toast flavor, with slight pecan and leather notes and a hint of black tea. It's smooth with a long, dry finish. Rated 6/10 for flavor.
  • Two thirds: It develops a little spiciness, and the flavors start to wash out. A burnt Starbucks coffee taste emerges, and the sweetness in the finish disappears. It becomes harsh with a little metallic residue.
  • Three thirds: The last third burns a bit unevenly, but the wrapper remains strong and intact.

The initial suggested price by the distributor was 200GBP/10. Overall, the reviewer gives it a 7/10 and believes it may improve with age.
