General Introduction
The Montecristo No. 5 is one of the smallest Cuban cigars from Montecristo. It has a Petit Corona (Perla) format, with a size of 102 x 15.87 mm, a ring of 42, and a weight of 5.91 g. It is hand - made and priced at 6.30€ each. It's ideal as an aperitif and can be smoked within 25 - 30 minutes.
Appearance
It has a modest appearance, similar to other small Montecristos. It had a nice plume, indicating proper aging.
Construction
It is very well - constructed. The draw is satisfying, the burn is even, and it produces rich clouds of white smoke.
Flavor
- One third: The beginning is very spicy and a bit harsh.
- Two thirds: After a couple of minutes, the flavor smoothes out, leaving only a little spiciness. By the end of the second third, notes of cocoa and roasted coffee are added.
- Three thirds: The last third is too short.
Value
It is expensive considering its small format, but it is worth it. It's a great cigar to smoke at any time of the day, especially during a short break.
