Product Introduction
The Alec Bradley Black Market line was introduced in 2011 and is handmade in Danli, Honduras. It has a Jalapa - grown Nicaraguan wrapper, and is a blend of Honduras and Panama - grown Jamastran tobaccos. The origin is Honduras, and it comes in a Torpedo format with a size of 6 1/8 x 54. The wrapper is Nicaragua Jalapa (Colorado Maduro), the filler is from Honduras and Panama - grown Jamastran tobaccos, and the binder is Sumatra (grown in Equador). It's hand - made and costs about $8 each.
Appearance
It has beautiful packaging with a paper sheath around the cigar and a matching band. The sheath slides off without glue, and the band comes off easily. The cigar has a Colorado maduro wrapper, a beautiful sheen, minimal veins, and tight seams. Boxes look like wooden weapon crates.
Construction
It held up well to a straight cut. It mostly burned well with thick smoke output but needed touch - ups and a re - light past the halfway point. The ash was firm but flaked more, and the draw opened up too much in the final third.
Flavor
- One third: Pre - light aroma had cedar, mint, tea, and earthy scents. On lighting, there was mild pepper. First flavors were must, wood, earth, and a faint tea hint. A little more pepper came in at the end of the first third.
- Two thirds: The draw gained resistance. Smoke was thick but dry, with earthy and woody flavors, plus hints of unsweetened coffee, cocoa, bitter citrus, toasted nuts, and leather. There was semi - sweet chocolate near the halfway point.
- Three thirds: Smoke output decreased, draw opened up too much, and it became more bitter. Flavors had little transition.
Value
With an MSRP of $7.90 and boxes of 22, buying by the box lowers the per - cigar price. But the overall experience was poor, so the value rating is low.
