  • Length: 7 inches
  • Ring Gauge: 70
  • Score: 3.5/5

Origin and Composition

The Alec Bradley Texas Lancero has its origin in Honduras. It has a "Texas" Lancero format, with a size of 7 x 70. The wrapper is from Nicaragua, the filler comes from Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Honduras, and the binder is from Indonesia. It is hand - made and priced at around $8 each.

Appearance

The Indonesian binder leaf is a rich medium brown, with a few prominent veins, a bit of tooth, and an oily shine. The band is large and stylish. It has a pigtail cap as typical of a lancero.

Construction

The draw is effortless but not loose, starting off perfectly. The burn is incredibly even and slow, and the dark gray ash clings for several inches. However, due to its large size, it is awkward to smoke comfortably, resulting in a 3/5 rating for construction.

Flavor

  • One third: Dominated by an earthy undertone, plenty of pepper, and leather.
  • Two thirds: Pepper fades to the backdrop. About an inch in, there's a splash of citrus and leather, which move to the foreground, accompanied by toasted nuts and natural tobacco flavor. Earth and wood notes remain pronounced.
  • Three thirds: A hint of coffee and a dash of nutmeg appear, with other flavors in the background. It is medium - bodied, and the smoke is thick and aromatic.

The flavor gets a 3.75/5 rating as the flavors lack uniqueness and the changes seem random at times.

Overall, the burn and draw of the Alec Bradley Texas Lancero are excellent. It's fun to try, but buying a box is not recommended.
