Davidoff Aniversario Double R 7"1/2 * 50 Cigar Review

, By: John Smith
  • Brand Name: Davidoff Aniversario Double R
  • Length: 7 1/2 inches (190.5 mm)
  • Ring: 50
  • Overall Score: Disappointing

General Information

The Davidoff Aniversario Double R has a natural wrapper (Colorado Claro) that is light brown. It's from the Dominican Republic, in Churchill format. It's hand - made, and a box of 25 costs around $600.

Appearance

The wrapper has a milk - chocolate color and looks beautiful. But compared to other Davidoff cigars, less effort was put into rolling. There were spots where the wrapper came off slightly, causing issues during smoking. Rating: 4/5.

Construction

The burn was always perfect. Out of about 5 cigars smoked, only 2 had a fine draw. Others were either too easy or too tight, and one wrapper completely unraveled. Rating: 3.5/5.

Flavor

  • One third: A mild and smooth mix of cocoa, nutty, and leathery flavors. The smoke is creamy and enjoyable.
  • Two thirds: Similar flavors persist.
  • Three thirds: Exactly the same flavors as before, with no change. Rating: 4/5.

Value

It's not the best investment. For the price, other brands like Griffin's or Ashton are better. But if received as a gift, it can be nice. Rating: 2/5.

If you're seeking a great Churchill, this Davidoff Anniversario No. 2 isn't the choice. Consider Cuban cigars like Cohiba Esplendidos or H. Upmann Sir Winston, or an Ashton Prime Minister instead.
