Tasting

• First Third: The aroma includes honey and tobacco sweetness. Pre - draw has honey and pepper. After lighting, there are classic rich Montecristo flavours like espresso coffee and cocoa, followed by cedar and spice.
• Middle Third: More spice sensations, flirting with the edge of harshness. The strength is 'medium to full', with pepper coming in and out. There's a flavour peak at the end of this third.
• Final Third: Flavour eases, with roasted nuts, honey and creamy moments. It's not suitable to smoke to the nub as harshness may increase.

Price and Comparison

The Montecristo No 3 has a pricing anomaly. It's only 13mm longer than the best - selling Montecristo No 4 but 25% more expensive. Some think the lower production quantity due to the price helps its consistency.
