Product Introduction
The Alec Bradley Tempus Maduro Terra Novo cigar is made in Honduras with an origin from Nicaragua. It has a Terra Novo (robusto) format, a San Andres Maduro wrapper, Nicaraguan and Honduran filler, and a Honduran binder. It is hand - made.
Construction
The cigar uses the same filler blend as the original Tempus and adds flavor with a San Andres Maduro wrapper. The wrapper is dark - chocolate colored with a few veins. It has an ornate purple, silver, and gold band. The five - inch stick is mostly plump with some soft spots, a thick and neatly - mounted cap that cuts cleanly with a Colibri V Cutter.
Flavor & Cold Draw
- One third: The wrapper gives off a milk weed blossom aroma, the foot smells of black cherries. Cold draw has light barley and black pepper flavors. Initial puffs are bitter and acrid with ammonia aroma, then change to an earthy base with cocoa and espresso hints. Leathery undertone and anise develop towards the end.
- Two thirds: Dark, earthy flavors of leather, cocoa, and wood dominate.
- Three thirds: A surge of smoked hickory along with cocoa and leather.
Burn & Smoking Characteristics
The cigar draws well and produces a lot of flavorful smoke. The ash is light gray with a tawny tinge, growing to about an inch and a half before the first drop. The burn line is even until the final third when it canoes. Smoke production decreases and the burn gets hot in the final third, easily fixed by purging. The ash drops three times during an hour - long smoke.
