- Ring Guage: 54
- Score: 3.75/5
Origin and Basics
The Arturo Fuente Hemingway Between the Lines is from the Dominican Republic. It's a figurado hand - made cigar with a wrapper of Barber Pole (Connecticut), a Dominican binder and filler. It comes in a box of 25 and costs $14.25.
Appearance
The barber pole design combines Connecticut shade - grown and Connecticut broadleaf maduro. Its figurado shape and perfecto tip, along with the classic red Fuente Hemingway band, make it distinctively appealing.
Construction
The filler is solid with little give. The draw is fairly tight due to the perfecto tip's narrow opening. Pre - light, there's not much flavor.
Taste Profile
- One third: After lighting, it has a dry mouthfeel and lacks strong flavor. After passing the perfecto tip, sweet sugar notes appear.
- Two thirds: At the widest point, the draw is perfect, and hay flavor becomes evident. Retrohaling gives a unique smell.
- Three thirds: The cigar gets bolder with leather and cedar notes.
Overall, the reviewer was a bit disappointed. The initial hay and tobacco were okay, but the cedar and leather came late. The extreme shape and tip may detract from the experience due to draw differences.
