, By: John Smith
  • Brand: Arturo Fuente Hemingway Work of Art Maduro
  • Length: 4.875 inches
  • Ring Size: 60 (widest part), 46 (near the head)
  • Score: Overall Rating: 4/5

Origin and Format

The cigar is from the Dominican Republic. It has a figurado format, with a unique shape that has been copied by several manufacturers. The wrapper is Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro, the binder is from the Dominican Republic, and the filler is long and also from the Dominican Republic. It is hand - made, and the MSRP is $8.50 each.

Shape and Appearance

The cigar has a perfecto foot, which allows for easy lighting and a straight burn. It has a ring gauge of 60 at a certain point and tapers to 46 near the head, ending in a pointed cap. The dark maduro wrapper has a toothy texture and glistens with oils, and there is one sizable vein.

Taste Profile

  • First Part: Prelight, the flavors are tobacco and earth. The first puffs are extremely sweet with a signature coffee flavor, like overly sweet coffee. This profile lasts for about half an inch.
  • Middle Part: As the gauge tapers, the sweetness mellows out, and the coffee flavor becomes more prominent.
  • Last Part: At the halfway mark, a spiced flavor replaces the sweet. For the rest of the smoke, the spice and coffee flavors seesaw, and the spice takes over in the last inch.

Burn and Overall Impression

The burn is pretty straight overall. One vein caused some unevenness, but it could be corrected. Overall, it was an enjoyable smoke. The shape makes the smoke more complex compared to a standard vitola. It's a good buy at MSRP.
