Product Introduction

Owned by Davidoff Geneva and masterminded by Avo Uvezian, AVO was founded in 1988. The AVO 80th Anniversary was released in 2006 and is only available in Belicoso size. It has an Ecuador Sungrown wrapper, Dominican Republic filler and binder, and is hand - made. Each cigar costs $15.

Taste Experience

  • Pre - light: The wrapper had a chocolate oily sheen. The foot was full of tobacco, and the cap was a nicely finished point. The double bands were cream - colored. The pre - light smell had sweet notes with hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. The cold draw revealed cherry and fruit notes. Pre - light score was 8 pts.
  • First third: It started slowly with trouble staying lit. Once lit, it was full - bodied with large volumes of white smoke. The draw was effortless, and the burn was wavy with a gray powdery ash. Tastes included nuts, pepper, and an odd spice.
  • Second third: It became medium - bodied. There were construction issues as it didn't want to stay lit. When lit, the burn remained wavy, and nuts and spice were the main tastes.
  • Final third: Burn problems persisted. The taste turned somewhat meaty, and nuts and spice were still present. There was too much glue on the band, forcing early cessation of smoking. Smoking score was 6 pts.

The overall experience was rated 5 pts, with the burn inconsistency and mediocre flavors making it not worth the price.
