Origin and Composition

The Cain 660 Habano is from Esteli, Nicaragua. It's a Belicoso/Torpedo format with a size of 5 x 50. Its composition includes Esteli Ligero, Condega Ligero, Jalapa Ligero and "other tobaccos". It's hand - made by Oliva Cigar Co., created by Sam Leccia of Nub cigars.

Appearance

It has a dark brown habano wrapper with a sheen from oils, smooth with minimal tooth and veining. The band at the foot has a black background, dual gold bands at top and bottom, and 'Cain Straight Ligero' text.

Construction

Well - constructed from head to foot, with no hard or soft spots and even wrapper color. The cap came off easily. It lit well, burned straight except in the final third. The ash was white and flakey. The draw was a bit loose at first, then became medium.

Flavor

  • One third: Rich tobacco flavor with smoky wood
  • Two thirds: An intense burst of spice on the front of the tongue
  • Three thirds: Body was mostly medium to medium - full

The retrohale was intense. It pairs well with richly flavored bourbons. Its price is unknown, but if it follows Oliva's price points, it'll be a good value. It's a powerful cigar not suitable for those with a weak stomach.
