  • Score: C

General Information

The Camacho 1962 Torpedo is a hand - made cigar. Its origin is Honduras. The wrapper is 3rd priming Habano - seed Criollo, the filler consists of Honduran Cuban - seed long - leaf tobaccos, and the binder is from Honduras. It costs $7 each. It was made to commemorate the year Julio Eiroa began his cigar - making journey after leaving post - revolutionary Cuba.

Appearance

The band is ornate and elegant, with a second band on the foot. The wrapper of the reviewed specimen was cracked in a couple of places, but it didn't affect the smoke. The torpedo had a spongy feel, similar to other Camacho torpedos.

Taste

  • One third: The pre - light draw was very light. It started mild, with weak and muddled flavors of basic tobacco and a hint of spice. It burned hot quickly, and one had to sip it to avoid bitterness.
  • Two thirds: The flavors began to improve, becoming a medium - bodied smoke dominated by leather and pepper, with a leathery finish.
  • Three thirds: The pepper took over, and it developed some of the Camacho characteristic strength.

Overall, it was a decent medium - bodied smoke after the lackluster start, but it was a bit one - dimensional. The reviewer may revisit it for a redux review as there is another torpedo in the humidor.
