General Information

The cigar is hand-made in the Dominican Republic. It has a Perfecto format, a Broadleaf Maduro wrapper, Dominican filler and binder. It costs $7 each.

Availability

The Hemingway Maduros only come out twice a year, just before Fathers’ Day and before the Christmas Holidays.

Appearance and Draw

The dark maduro wrapper is rough, bumpy, veiny and looks dry. The cigar has a unique perfecto shape with a fat bulbous foot and a small nipple at the tip. The draw is a little tight at first but opens up quickly once the burn reaches the bulb of the foot. Construction is consistently perfect.

Taste

• First third: Smooth and easy with coffee and nut flavors.
• Second third: Earthy notes and lots of dark chocolate as you reach the thickest part. Earth and wood become dominant as you progress down the taper, with cocoa notes and maduro sweetness on the finish.
• Last third: A lot of wood and earth, with some pepper and spice, becoming fuller and more robust.
