Product Introduction
Released in 2011, Alec Bradley Black Market cigars blend tobaccos from four countries (Nicaragua for wrapper, Panama and Honduras for filler, Sumatra grown in Ecuador for binder). They only use visos and ligeros. Available in boxes of 22 in a cargo - crate - like packaging, and come in multiple sizes including Robusto, Toro, Churchill, Torpedo, and Gordo.
Pre - light
The cap was sloppy and uneven. The smell was of a barnyard and mint. The wrapper had heavy veins and a blemish. The cold draw was tight with an empty mushroom taste. Pre - light score: 6 pts.
Smoking Experience
- First third: Cool, fresh, leathery, and mildly sweet. Part of the cap came off in the mouth. Burn was even with a gray powdery ash.
- Second third: Tastes became creamy, bready with a leathery undercoat, then turned to a meaty burnt spice and medium - bodied.
- Final third: Spongy, tart, medium - bodied with an Indian Curry aroma. Finish was ill - defined and boring. Smoking score: 7 pts.
Overall, it's considered a bland blend. Despite the unique name and band, it doesn't stand out in the market. Overall Experience score: 6 pts.
