Product Introduction

The Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva Flor Fina 8-5-8 is a hand - made cigar from the Dominican Republic. Its vitola is Lonsdale, with a burn time of 40 - 60 minutes and a medium strength. The wrapper is African Cameroon, the binder and filler are from the Dominican Republic, and it costs $3.80 each.

Pre - light

Inspected before lighting, the wrapper is smooth, slightly velvety, with no tears or major veins but dappled with sunspots. It smells of tobacco, with floral and cedar notes at the foot. The stick is generally firm, with one slightly spongy part. The foot is loosely rolled, and a punch is used to avoid draw issues, yet the draw is a bit too loose. The cold draw has a light tobacco flavor with a touch of sweetness.

Taste Profile

  • One third: After lighting, it has a rich, classic tobacco taste with cedar and a creamy finish with honey sweetness. Retrohale shows a Cameroon profile of cream, citrusy sweetness over baking spice. As it progresses, honey sweetness increases. The burn is mostly straight, and the ash is flaky and falls under an inch.
  • Two thirds: Burn problems occur after ashing. Flavors from the first third last until halfway. Then, cream, citrus, and baking spice diminish, while cedar and earth intensify, and there's a constant sweetness. The ash is very flaky and falls again.
  • Three thirds: Leather appears in the flavor. Sweetness remains, and creaminess increases. A faint bitterness appears, and the profile ends with creamy, sweet cedar, earth, leather, and a hint of citrus.
